Salesforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) requirement went into effect on February 1, 2022, to help you satisfy this requirement, Salesforce is automatically enabling MFA for your product between January 12 and February 10, 2024. Once MFA is enabled for your org, every login will require that users provide MFA verification in addition to their username and password.

When will my Salesforce Org be impacted?

Salesforce is releasing these updates in phases from now through Spring ’24. In order to prevent disruptions, Bridgenext (formerly Wave6) highly encourages you to enable MFA before the end of 2023. Have questions? Bridgenext is here to help.

What if I already enabled MFA?

Thats great! This will not disrupt your organization, but there is one thing to consider before finishing up. Users who are exempt from the MFA requirement must be manually excluded by a Salesforce Admin. Bridgenext highly recommends you exempt these users before Salesforce completes auto-enablement for your org. Think you may have users that will be exempt? Find out here

What do I need to do?

Bridgenext highly encourages you setup your MFA verification process before the end of 2023 to minimize disruptions.

After the MFA setting has been turned on, users will be prompted to select a verification method. Verification options include security keys, authenticator apps, and built-in authenticators. After selecting your method of choice, Salesforce will guide users through a simple process to complete registration.

Once MFA has been enabled:

Register the method to connect it to your Salesforce Account. Again, Salesforce makes it easy as the registration process is automatically initiated the first time a user logins once MFA has been enabled.

Finally, use the verification method at each login to verify your identity.

With the latest Swarming update, agents will be able to collaborate with other departments in real-time, providing the customer with a solution faster. Enhancing cross-functional communication is not only providing a better experience for the customer, but resolving communication barriers within organizations.

Filter and Customize related lists in the Lightning App

One of the most asked for enhancements is also being released this summer. There is no more going into the page layout editor to adjust your related lists. With this upgrade, you will be able to customize your related lists directly within the lightning app builder by using the Dynamic Related List-Single. This will support common use cases (open and closed case or opportunity). WOHOO!

Enhance experience with Triggered Campaign Messages

This next update is within Marketing Cloud, and places focus on customers with an eCommerce presence and B2C retailers. This upgrade allows for Marketing Cloud Personalization users the ability to tailor their experience with access to cart abandonment, catalog changes and other behavioral changes. Utilizing this feature allows organizations to re-engage their customers, and encourage them to purchase abandoned items or strike interest in alternate items.

On February 1, 2022, Salesforce will require customers to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in order to access Salesforce products. All internal users who log in to Salesforce products (including partner solutions) through the user interface must use MFA for every login. We encourage clients who haven’t started planning for this change start now, and where possible, begin implementing MFA.

To ensure that MFA is required for all your Salesforce users, you can turn it on directly in your Salesforce products or use your SSO provider’s MFA service. Salesforce products include MFA functionality at no extra cost.

MFA vs 2FA

You may be more familiar with the concept of two-factor authentication, or 2FA. MFA and 2FA both protect against unauthorized access by requiring a user to provide multiple authentication factors to prove their identity. The only difference between them is the number of factors that are needed to log in. MFA requires two or more factors, providing options for many combinations of authentication mechanisms. 2FA, on the other hand, is a subset of MFA that requires two factors only.

What you need to do!

We strongly encourage you to setup select your organizations verification method and set up mobile devices for MFA before the deadline in order to minimize disruptions.

Obtain a verification method

  • Salesforce Authenticator Mobile App
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • Google Authenticator

Once MFA has been enabled:
